Overview
Cairo does New Year properly, and the best seat in it is on the river. The boat sails at nine and stays out past midnight, which means you are on the water when the countdown comes and the fireworks start going up along both banks.
Dinner is a five-course set menu rather than the usual buffet — a soup, a mezze course, a fish and a meat, and something with chocolate at the end — served at your table while a live band plays through the evening. A DJ takes over after eleven for anyone who wants the deck rather than the dining room.
One sailing only, and it sells out every year. Book it well ahead and tell us if you want a table by the glass.
