Overview

The Maxim is the quiet one. It sails from the Zamalek bank beside the Marriott, carries far fewer covers than the big buffet boats, and serves an à la carte menu at the table: a set number of courses, properly cooked, with a wine list that is short and actually chosen.

The entertainment is scaled to match. There is a jazz trio rather than a dance floor, and on the later sailing a single oud player. Nobody will ask you to join in with anything. It is the boat to book when the occasion matters more than the spectacle — an anniversary, a first night in Cairo, a client you want to impress without shouting.

Two sailings a night, two hours each. Booking ahead is genuinely necessary at weekends.
